RMIT Village is located in North Melbourne, across the road from the University of Melbourne and the Royal Melbourne Hospital, and just 10 mins from the city centre. Its great location provides easy access to the inner city, including Melbourne’s Convention and Exhibition Centre, fabulous shopping, bars, restaurants, cafes, meeting venues and sporting arenas.

The local area showcases some of Victoria’s finest tourist attractions including Queen Victoria Markets (for some of Melbourne's finest vintage items), Melbourne Cricket Ground, Victorian Arts Centre, Flemington Racecourse, the National Gallery of Victoria, Southbank Shopping, Entertainment & Casino precinct and the Zoo. Or visit North Carlton and Lygon Street for some of the best coffee and cake you will ever taste. All these attractions are accessible via Melbourne Historic Trams and regular public transport.

Once the Old Melbourne Hotel, this newly renovated Village provides an outstanding living environment for independent travellers, friends and sporting, conference, business and education groups. 

The 2005 refurbishment was designed by 5-star hotel designers Chhada Siembieda Australia, whose other projects include hotels and resorts in Hong Kong, India, Dubai, Fiji and the recently refurbished Sydney Hilton Hotel.

 

Getting Around

The Village is conveniently located on Flemington Road near the intersection of Elizabeth Street and Royal Parade in North Melbourne.

A tram stop at the entrance provides easy access to the greater Melbourne area. The airport is just 15 minutes away via CityLink which also provides access to the rest of Victoria.

Melbourne's city centre, academic institutions and a range of exciting tourist attractions are all easily accessible, making the Village the ideal venue for your accommodation or conference group.

Parking

Free on-site parking for one vehicle per apartment is available to guests. Additional parking is $15.00 per day. The car park entrance is located on Bedford Street, at the rear of our property.

Grand Ballroom

The large air conditioned ballroom can seat up to 160 people banquet style and is available for conferences & corporate functions. Catering and event design can be arranged to make your event unique. For more information please contact us.

The Glass House

The village boasts its own glass house, a stunning common area that can be made available for private functions. The Glass House is ideal for group get togethers, registrations, or as a chill out area where groups can watch a movie, play games, conduct group activities or relax with a book and a cup of coffee. Facilities include a pool table, games and Foxtel.

Business Centre

The business centre is equipped with a variety of technology and has computers set up in an ergonomically sound environment for your enjoyment.  It is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and is accessible by security access to all Village guests upon request. Prepaid internet cards can be purchased from reception.

Old Melbourne Cafe

The onsite cafe is open Monday to Friday for breakfast and lunch. Group bookings for dinner are available upon request.

Breakfast

Continental breakfast packs can be purchased at $10.00 per person, per day. For those that prefer to cook, each apartment kitchen includes a full size fridge, stove, microwave, crockery, pots & pans.

Conference catering

Conference Day and Dinner packages can be tailored to suit your budget. Please advise us of your budget and dietary requirements and we can provide a menu to suit.

Poolside BBQ

Our BBQ is located poolside and is accessible from 7am- 10pm. BBQ dinner packages can be arranged for groups upon request.
