Canterbury University Village - University Hall

University Hall is located in spacious grounds on the corner of University Hall and Maidstone Roads adjacent to the University of Canterbury sports fields and the University of Canterbury Campus.

Getting around Christchurch is very easy and a short 10 minute car/taxi ride will take you to the Christchurch Convention Centre and the Central Business District of Christchurch.

Central Location

Christchurch is well recognized as one of New Zealand’s premier conference destinations and the international gateway to the South Island. The city boasts some of the finest restaurants in New Zealand as well as designer retail shops and golf courses.

As a city Christchurch is very easy to get around with a suburb public bus transport system. The bus system services the University of Canterbury very well and buses run every 10 minutes into the centre of the city.

University Hall, University of Canterbury’s most popular Hall, is located opposite the University of Canterbury and less than 20 minutes from the central city and the Christchurch International Airport, just a short 10 minutes away. University Hall offers quality facilities and a variety of fully furnished rooms with flexible dining options – catered or limited self catered. Recently Qualmark rated for student accommodation, conference delegates and sporting groups can be assured of a quality experience.

 

Getting Around

The Hall is on several major bus routes with bus stops straight outside the Hall. The Westfield Mall on Riccarton Road (Christchurch’s largest) is 10 minutes away whilst 20 minutes will see you in the City centre.

Christchurch International airport is 10 minutes away and a taxi fare is around $20.00

 

Parking

Car parking at University Hall is located behind the main administration building. There is parking for over 100 cars.  When checking into your accommodation, please indicate your need for a car park.

Village Facilities

  • Village Gardens The Village offers lovely gardens throughout village; you are welcome take your shoes off and feel some grass in between your toes or grab a coffee and relax on the grass anytime.
  • Shared Spaces These areas are shared by all guests and can also be made available for private functions. Shared spaces are ideal for registrations or a chill out area where groups can get together to watch a movie or sky digital, conduct group activities, or relax with a book and a cup of coffee. Shared spaces equipped with a variety of technology, a pool table, books and magazines and comfortable lounges for your enjoyment.
  • Meeting Rooms The Village offers two intimate Meeting Rooms, accommodating from 50-100 theatre style to 20-35 classroom/u-shape. Conference catering can be arranged to suit your groups requirements.
  • Dining Hall The village dining hall provides a variety catering options to guests whilst staying at the village. The dinner dance venue is available for (250 per sitting) and is the perfect venue for your groups catering and event requirements. Please discuss your groups needs.
  • Table Tennis The village has table tennis facilities available for your group to use. A friendly, yet slightly competitive game of table tennis is always great fun. Our staff can assist you with your booking.
  • Volley Ball Courts The courts are available for individual use and for group competitions or leisure games. Our friendly staff can assist you with your booking.
  • Basketball Hoops The village basket ball area is a great way to have some team fun and shoot a few hoops.
  • Sports Field The village is set alongside a superb sports field available for your group to use. Whether it is a friendly game or for serious sports training, feel free to enquire with our staff about the hire/use.
  • Business Centre The Business Centre is equipped with a variety of technology and has computers set up in an ergonomically sound environment for your enjoyment. It is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and is accessible by security access to all village guests upon request.
